The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is New Zealand’s leading independent biomedical research institute, with a focus on breakthrough discoveries in immunology and immunotherapy. We have over 100 staff committed to finding cures for diseases using the body’s own immune system. We are looking for a new Facilities Asset Coordinator to coordinate the facilities and maintenance functions of the Institute and its asset portfolio efficiently, sustainably and safely.

This is a varied role that needs high levels of organisation, responsibility, ownership, and communication. Our Facilities Asset Coordinator will maintain databases and schedules of assets and equipment, and implement asset management plans in line with industry best practice. You will be comfortable maintaining building compliance requirements, and coordinating and undertaking maintenance of the Institute’s assets and facilities.

This great opportunity is designed for a natural people-person, someone who is comfortable chatting to contactors, suppliers and colleagues and building collaborative relationships. You will be highly engaging when training staff to ensure they employ safe work practices, and that their activities comply with necessary WorkSafe NZ regulations.

We need a real team player who is happy to assist and backup the facilities team as needed. Were also after a forward-thinker who can assist in the development of strategic planning initiatives for asset improvement and longevity.

This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Some Out of hours work, such as contractor supervision, or lending a hand with other facilities work, will come up from time to time.

A valid NZ driver's licence would be advantageous.

  • 3+ years proven success in similar role or service technician/building/electrician background

Ngā kawenga / Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a database of all MIMR assets, equipment and contractor details
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule of MIMR assets
  • Implement short, medium and long term asset management plans to industry best practice
  • Create asset reports when requested
  • Coordinate or undertake maintenance for MIMR assets and facilities
  • Facilitate and maintain MIMR building compliance requirements
  • Ensure the proactive management of contractors and suppliers, coordinating contractor work ensuring efficiency, safety and a positive customer experience
  • Train staff to comply with safe work practices and WorkSafe NZ regulations
  • Manage helpdesk tickets and assign further where necessary
  • Manage security access and access cards
  • On-call duties as required
